The lake is located near the small city of Quitman, Texas on the northern edge of the state in Wood County. This quaint city is a relaxing escape for many trying to get away from the big city for awhile. Lake Fork fishing is famous in this area.

The best time for fishing on this lake is when the waters are at temperatures between 65 and 75 degrees. When the waters are warmer the fish will stay in the deeper waters to stay cool.

During springtime the females are spawning and once they are done they go on a feeding frenzy. For the fishermen this means you should have no problem catching your limit. Another good time for fishing is after a rain because it feeds nutrients into the water which the fish need. When the water temperature is favorable for them you will find them near the shallow water just waiting to take your bait.

This lake is mainly known for its Largemouth Bass however there are other varieties of fish residing within the lake as well. There are Bluegill and a couple different species of Crappies and Catfish.
